'Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' Star Says She's 'Done' With Lisbeth Salander
'I've moved on and I don't want to repeat myself,' she says of the Swedish adaptations of Stieg Larsson's 'Millennium' trilogy.By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

There's probably a country somewhere in the world where Stieg Larsson's "Millennium" trilogy hasn't become a best-seller. For years, the Swedish author's crime thrillers — starting with "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" and concluding with "The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" — have been flying out of bookstores all over the world.
But as Larsson fans know, the series about journalist Mikael Blomkvist and hacker Lisbeth Salander may not be over. Though Larsson died in 2004, he reportedly completed three-quarters of a fourth "Millennium" book, and he may have even started on a fifth.
The first three novels have already been made into Swedish films; in those movies, Salander was portrayed by Noomi Rapace, an actress now co-starring in the sequel to "Sherlock Holmes" and rumored to be up for the "Alien" prequel.
Though the "Millennium" films have launched Rapace to international stardom, she has vowed never again to play Salander, even if films were to be crafted from Larsson's other manuscripts.
"It's done. I'm done with her," she told MTV News while promoting "The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest." "I did everything I could and she was in my life very strong for one and a half years, and then I left her. I've moved on and I don't want to repeat myself."
Stepping into the role of a character who has become something of a folk hero in Sweden was no easy task: She spent more than half a year learning to kickbox and ride a motorcycle, and she had to overhaul her eating habits to more closely resemble the small-framed Salander.
"When I was preparing, I did a lot of physical things and I felt like she was coming," Rapace explained. "I didn't want to force her. ... I drove a lot of motorcycles and I was on a diet, so my body changed slowly into her. Then I felt like she was coming. It was like small puzzle pieces that came into the right places."
Rapace is ready to turn the page.
"[Larsson] wrote three books and no one really knows how much there really is," she said. "There's a lot of rumors and I feel like it's better to leave it and say, 'This is it, OK, bye, now I'm off to something else and to new things.' "

Tom Cruise Leaves Red Roses For Katie Holmes "Everywhere She Goes"
Katie Holmes is currently out promoting her upcoming movie "The Romantics", so it's the perfect opportunity to ask her about husband Tom Cruise's romantic side.
Katie shared a little private tidbit with Parade:
"My husband has red roses for me everywhere I go."
Doesn't Tom worry that if a delivery is delayed or doesn't show up or something like that - that she'll be thinking something's wrong? ;) That's a lot to live up to - sending them everywhere she goes! It's very sweet!
She also chatted about what drew her to this movie:
"I really loved the script when I read it. It felt a lot like The Big Chill and St. Elmo's Fire and also a little bit of a John Hughes feeling, and I always loved those movies growing up.
She shared her respect for the other actors and actresses involved in the film:
"It was great to work with this wonderful cast and director. I was floored by the performances. These guys are such incredible actors. It was really inspiring every single day because you'd watch somebody else do a scene and you'd be like, 'OK, wow. I didn't know that was what it was about.' They brought something so different and wonderful. It was such a great time, I think that's why we all still hang out and we go to dinner often and we're a tight-knit group."
Are you looking forward to this movie? I'm excited about the huge, talented cast: Josh Duhamel, Anna Paquin, Elijah Wood, Malin Akerman, Candice Bergen, and Adam Brody. More importantly - how often does your significant other send you flowers?

Liam Neeson Rumored to Inherit Mel Gibson's 'Hangover 2' Cameo
Robin Williams, Kurt Russell also listed as possibilities for the sequel.By Kara Warner

Now that Mel Gibson is officially out of "The Hangover 2," the busy bees at Warner Bros. Pictures have been scrambling to replace their high-profile celeb cameo with another big name. According to Variety, the studio is going after A-list actor Liam Neeson for the role.
A source close to the production confirmed to MTV News that the "Taken" actor is at the top of the studio's wishlist, but added that a few other established names have been circulating as well: Robin Williams and Kurt Russell.
There is no word on whether the cameo role is the same one Gibson was supposed to play (a tattoo artist), only that Warner Bros. is "very happy" with the script and wants a veteran actor to fill the now-high profile cameo.
Director Todd Phillips said in a statement recently that he wanted Gibson in the film, but that not everyone agreed with the casting.
"I thought Mel would have been great in the movie," Phillips said in a statement. "And I had the full backing of [WB President] Jeff Robinov and his team. But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew."
"Hangover" breakout star Zach Galifianakis reportedly was the most upset with Gibson's cameo and hinted to Comedy Death-Ray Radio host Scott Aukerman that he was upset about a recent turn of events related to a film on which he's currently working.
"But a movie you're acting in, you don't have a lot of control: You just show up and vomit your lines out," Galifianakis said. "I'm not the boss. I'm in a deep protest right now with a movie I'm working on, up in arms about something. But I can't get the guys to [listen] ... I'm not making any leeway."

'Breaking Dawn' Star Dakota Fanning In Talks For 'If I Stay'
Actress may star in Heitor Dhalia-directed film based on Gayle Forman's young adult novel.By Eric Ditzian

Summit Entertainment likes to keep its "Twilight" stars in the family. The studio kept Robert Pattinson in the mix with romantic drama "Remember Me" and cut another check to Billy Burke for the upcoming action flick "Drive Angry." Then there's Dakota Fanning, who not only starred in the sci-fi "Push" but in the last two "Twilight" flicks as well. And as she gears up for work on "Breaking Dawn," she just might be staying put with Summit.
The 16-year-old actress is in talks to star in Summit's "If I Stay," a supernatural story adapted from Gayle Forman's young adult novel, according to Variety.
"Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke was originally attached to direct the film, with Summit chief Erik Feig saying in 2009, "When we were thinking of the perfect director to capture the emotion, grace and passion of this beautiful book, one filmmaker became the clear and only choice: Catherine Hardwicke." But now Hardwicke is out — off to direct "Red Riding Hood" with Amanda Seyfried and Gary Oldman — and Brazilian director Heitor Dhalia is in.
"If I Stay" follows a gifted classical musician named Mia (to be played by Fanning) and her indie rocker boyfriend. Mia and her family suffer a devastating car accident, leaving the young girl trapped between life and death and forced to decide if she has the will to live.
There's no word yet about when the film will shift into production, but Fanning should be busy for a while with the two parts of "Breaking Dawn."

Vince Vaughn 'Dilemma' Trailer's 'Gay' Joke To Be Cut
Universal Pictures will replace 'insensitive' preview scene from upcoming flick.By Mawuse Ziegbe
Vince Vaughn and Anderson Cooper
Photo: Getty Images
The Vince Vaughn vehicle "The Dilemma" is already running into problems of its own after promotion of the film recently kicked off. Following an outcry over the use in the trailer of the word 'gay' as a derogatory zing, Universal Pictures has announced the preview will be reworked.
"The teaser trailer for 'The Dilemma' was not intended to cause anyone discomfort," the studio said in a statement released Friday (October 8). "In light of growing claims that the introduction to the trailer is insensitive, it is being replaced. A full trailer, which has been in the works for some time, will post online later today."
The comedy has drawn high-profile criticism from the likes of CNN anchor Anderson Cooper and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres for the use of the word "gay" in a joke in the movie's trailer. In a version of the preview that has been circulating online, Vaughn's character holds court in a boardroom and says, "Electric cars are gay. I mean, not 'homosexual' gay but 'my parents are chaperoning the dance' gay."
"I was sitting ... in a movie theater over the weekend, and there was a preview of a movie, and in it the actor said, 'That's so gay.' And I was shocked ... not only that they put that in the movie, but that they put that in the preview, they thought that was okay to put it in the preview to the movie to get people to go and see it," Cooper said on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Wednesday. "We gotta do something to make those words ... unacceptable, 'cause those words are hurting kids."
Gay-rights organization GLAAD also weighed in on the controversy.
"The use of the word 'gay' in this trailer as a slur is unnecessary and does nothing more than send a message of intolerance about our community to viewers," GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios said.
The uproar comes after the tragic suicides of teens such as Tyler Clementi and Seth Walsh pushed anti-gay bullying into the spotlight and the debate surrounding the repeal of the U.S. armed forces' controversial "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

'Pineapple Express 2' Could Go In 'Scarface' Direction, Director Says
'I want to see them in the Miami coke scene. It could get a little gruesome,' David Gordon Green tells us at New York Comic Con.By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Someone make a dinner reservation for James Franco, Seth Rogen, David Gordon Green and the rest of the folks involved in "Pineapple Express," OK? That's the first stumbling block preventing a sequel to their 2008 comedy, and not until everyone breaks bread together will there be any hope of "Pineapple Express 2" kicking into action.
"We talk about it all the time," Green, who directed the film, told MTV News while promoting "Your Highness" at New York Comic Con. "We keep talking to the studio. They're going to organize a dinner someday. This dinner has been talked about for about two years now, where we're going to get together and throw all the millions of ideas we have into a pot and see if there's any reason to make that movie."
While hanging out in our skybox at NYCC, Green revealed a few story ideas that, in our humble opinion, most definitely seem a worthy extension of the story of two stoners - Franco and Rogen - pulled into the violent world of high-stakes marijuana dealing.
"The most interesting spin is to go in the 'Scarface' direction," Green told us. "I want to see them in the Miami coke scene. It could get a little gruesome."
"Or take it in the 'Clear and Present Danger' direction and go to South America," he added.
Green's not the only one interested in a sequel. Franco told us earlier in the year about his enthusiasm for another "Pineapple," and Evan Goldberg, who co-wrote the original script, is excited as well. And Rogen told us, "Of all the movies we've done, that's the only one that I would actually like to do a sequel to and we talk about it."
For now, though, Sony Pictures has got to get all these guys around a dinner table. "There are a few avenues that are maybe worthy of a little bit more than a barroom napkin scribble of an idea," Green said.
Check out everything we've got on "Your Highness."

'Social Network' Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know!
We friended this production a long time ago, and this is what we've learned.By Eric Ditzian
Jesse Eisenberg in "The Social Network"
Photo: Sony Pictures
"The Social Network" is a whodunit for the Internet age. Was the billion-dollar behemoth known as Facebook solely the idea of Mark Zuckerberg, a flip-flop-wearing hacker at Harvard? Or did he lie, cheat and steal his way toward Web glory, leaving wronged classmates in his egocentric wake?
That's the central question David Fincher explores in his new film, penned by Aaron Sorkin and starring Jesse Eisenberg as Zuckerberg. The film delivers no easy answers, just a riveting, two-hour ride showcasing the creative energy and energetic backstabbing of young entrepreneurs in Cambridge and Silicon Valley.
MTV News friended the production early on, following every casting development and trailer release since the project was announced. Before you hit the theater this weekend, point and click your way toward total information awareness with MTV News' "Social Network" cheat sheet.
Friending Hollywood
Word leaked in June of last year that Fincher was circling the rather-straightforward project, a curious move for a director known for such a distinct visual style. What would a guy who brought Tyler Durden of "Fight Club" and John Doe of "Seven" to the screen do with a nerd from the Ivy League?
By the next month, there was still no official announcement about Fincher's involvement, and when we asked producer Kevin Spacey about his helming duties, Spacey responded, "I think we are close to announcing a director." September came, Fincher had signed on, and the search was on for the actor to play Zuckerberg. Names that cropped up on the Web included Eisenberg, Michael Cera and Paul Rust, but the role eventually went to Eisenberg (who'd previously issued MTV News a non-denial denial of his involvement. Justin Timberlake came aboard at the same time, followed by Andrew Garfield, Rooney Mara and Max Minghella.
"I just made a tape, probably 20 pages of dialogue, and sent in the tape because I live in New York City and they were casting in California," Eisenberg told us in January about the casting process. "Then they called me for a meeting. It was fairly painless."
Removing Privacy Settings
By that point, filming was already under way. The first official look at the film didn't arrive until June, delivering the memorable tagline, "You don't get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies." The first teaser trailer dropped days later and contained not a single frame from the actual movie, just voice-overs and all-caps words like "punk" and "genius." As odd as it sounds, the trailer was as perfect as a teaser trailer can be. A second teaser popped up the next month: still with no film footage but with similarly intense voice-overs and imagery from Facebook pages themselves.
Not until the middle of July did we get our first glimpse of real "Social Network" footage. Set to a choral take on Radiohead's "Creep," the trailer gave us snappy dialogue, looks at Harvard's boozy social life and the backstabbing that began even before Facebook went online.
Status Updates
As the film's October release date approached, the cast began to speak more openly about the production. "Why actors love working with [Fincher] and why I loved working with him is because you try a scene in 200 different ways; you know he is able to edit together several different performances for each role," Eisenberg told us. "We would be often doing half the scene 60 times one way, then 60 times a little more engaged."
Timberlake spoke with us about how the film is potentially divisive. His personal experience was that some of his friends sided with Zuckerberg's version of events, while others agreed with his adversaries. "But one of my friends specifically said ... 'I don't 100 percent agree with any of the characters, but I don't disagree with any of them,' " Timberlake said. "Life is life. Things happen sloppily."
Life can also be cruel, which is why, even after making a movie so intimately tied to Internet culture, Eisenberg avoids reading about himself online at all costs. "I know that I'm written about online — we're all written about online," he told us. "It's incredibly painful to read it, so I stay off of it. People can write things that are terribly cruel because of the anonymity of the Internet."

Celebrities Out And About: Jon Hamm, Tom Cruise, And Ashlee Simpson
Tom Cruise enjoyed a morning in the park with all three of his kids. Connor, Isabella and Suri joined their dad at the Central Park playground in NYC for some playtime while Katie was making an appearance on one of the morning shows.
Ashlee Simpson is also in New York City today. The singer was spotted leaving her hotel this morning. I have to admit, I miss her red hair. Actually, I loved her as a blonde, too.
Jon Hamm was spotted as he arrived in London at Heathrow Airport this afternoon. What do you think of "Mad Men" season four so far?

We seem to get this sort of "A.D.D." when it comes to tragedies in other areas of the world. I think it was George Clooney who said that when a new disaster strikes, we sort of move on and forget about the previous one. Like whichever one is being focused on in the media, we clamor to help and then it's like "okay, NEXT!" while there is still SO MUCH to be done.
